Stratos 2.0: open enterprise-grade PaaS
WSO2, a provider of enterprise middleware, launched its open PaaS, Stratos 2.0. The new framework offers “the ability to run on almost any IaaS cloud” and can manage “multiple different IaaS clouds at the same time.”
A PaaS for mobile applications
Progress, a business application infrastructure software provider, has announced their new platform for mobile applications, Progress Pacific. Designed to work with user-intensive mobile apps, the multi-tenant SaaS is hosted on Amazon Web Services.
Changing live apps without compromising stability
Qubell, an application deployment and configuration management company, launched Qubell™ Adaptive PaaS. The unique platform-as-a-service offering allows for introducing changes to web services without stopping them.
A PaaS for .NET applications
DiscountASP.NET, a Windows hosting company, has launched Snapp Systems, a new PaaS offering with configurable staging and production environments for .NET applications. Based on Windows Azure Services for Windows Server, the new solution provides scalability in combination with multiple developer features.
An IaaS/SaaS toolset for application development
SmartFile, a provider of business file sharing and FTP hosting solutions, has announced the release of their own file management platform. The combined IaaS/SaaS offering boasts a wide range of advanced features for rapid application development.
How to save millions with PaaS?
GigaOM Pro, a provider of real-time analysis for a number of tech industries, released a report on implementation of private PaaS within large-scale companies. In addition to listing new opportunities for enterprises, the report gives a number of real-life examples of how companies saved millions on building and migrating applications in the cloud.
AppFog purchased by CenturyLink
Savvis, a provider of data center services owned by communications giant CenturyLink, announced that they had purchased AppFog, a PaaS company. Andrew Higginbotham, CTO of Savvis, said that this acquisition will help to expand Savvis’ services to the rapidly growing PaaS market.
OpenShift Online will cost $20 a month
Red Hat have announced that their OpenShift Online platform is now live and ready for commercial use with professional support and monthly fees that start at $20. Currently, the service hosted on Amazon attracts around 1,500 new customers every week.
Engine Yard now supports Windows Azure
Engine Yard, a provider of multi-cloud PaaS solution, announced that their offering now includes support for Windows Azure. Other cloud companies that have partnered with Microsoft on Azure include Oracle, Salesforce.com, and NetSuite.
